Join the Darkside, The Patriots will show you the true path to understanding football.

Truthfully?

First, watch as many games as you can with a boyfriend, brother, father, friend, etc. who can give you the basics and explain what's going on.

Second, join a fantasy football league. Just do a free Yahoo Public League. Although your team will stink, it'll still teach you about the players and the stats and no one will notice that you will probably go 0-14 'cause it's an anonymous public league.

Finally, buy a Madden Football video game. It'll be REALLY hard at first, but have someone explain it to you and then just keep playing it. You will learn a ton about football that way.

If you REALLY want to learn that badly, do all of these things and by next season you'll know more about what's going on out there than half of your friends who are guys.

My wife used to hate football, because she never really understood the game. After we started dating, she would ask questions and I was willing to answer her even though the game was on (her father would not). Eventually, she bought me season tickets to the Seahawks!!!! We used to go to the games together and she was a major fan. Sadly, she passed away from cancer just days before the 2006 season started, and she was too sick to attend the playoff games in the 2005 season that lead to the SuperBowl run.

Put football rules/strategy in a yahoo search and read up on the results. Should help too. Good luck.

Watch the games and ask questions. My wife is a huge Chargers fan and football fan in general. When we watch the games, she even makes insightful commentary before the announcers say the same exact thing.

Also, don't get hung up on something complicated if you don't understand it right away. I consider myself fairly knowlegeable on all aspects of the game. But, it still amazes me how John Madden sees minute details and is explaining it on the telestrator before I even know what he's talking about.

Play Madden on playstation or x-box, it'll actually teach you alot about the little things that may go unnoticed. Also sportscenter and NFL Network is a great place for info and facts

Best way...Watch the game with people who know and ask questions (maybe most during commercials)....

Maybe try and read up (sports sites, sports-based TV shows etc.), so you have a basic idea, thus giving you the ability to ask more educated questions, got to get the basics, then learn as you watch.....It's a great game, you'll learn to love it.....
