I believe it's a personal preference. If you gain something out of giong to church...then by all means...GO! If you go just because you think it's what you're supposed to be doing, then you're going for the wrong reason. A person can be just as close to God by staying at home. Church is just a place to fellowship and hear the word, among other things. I personally was raised in church and I am a Christian. However, as I became an adult, I began to seek out more knowledge on my own. I found that a lot of what I was taught in church was just brain washing that was passed down from generation to generation. The best thing you can do for yourself is to seek the truth. Go with what your heart tells you to do....not what society tells you to do.

Oh boy! As a person who grew up in the church and have had my fill of "church folks", I would be tempted to say that it's better not to go. I made a decision a few years ago to leave the "church" and find God. That time off was very instrumental in me learning how to enjoy the experience of assembling myself with other believers and I decided to start going to church again. Now I go with no expectations of people or religion and only to search for God and His will and plan for my life.

I now see it as a personal choice, I do not believe in criticizing
people who belong to a church, there is good and bad in
everything, as all is made up of our human shortcoming, and
people in groups do good for others. No bushel is with out rotten apples, in all of life. I see church as a place of worship,
regardless of people's differences of personal shortcoming,
if one goes to church to worship and not to be noticed by others as pomp, it seems certain God smiles on them. I stopped going to church of my birth seven years ago, because of man made laws, I do not agree with, but I still miss my personal worship there, yet I do belong to a spiritual
group, not a church. Each person should do what works for them, and no one should or has a right to brow beat prople who go to church, as regardless their heart is in the right place, I do believe God is everywhere, as He is within us,
Blessings to all.

It's up to the person and their choice of worship-
To the guy that says religion can't be proved, what exactly does that mean? If you are talking about the existence of God that can be very logically proved and has been done so many times over. It's more a matter of whether you are willing to commit to something other than you.

When you become unhappy, feel worse for the going, and disagree with the teachings that have deteriorated into man made figments having little to do with anything spiritually uplifting and encouraging and strengthening, then it's time to move away from all formal religion.

I did and my spiritual life has magnified a hundred fold since I stepped away from the table of man-made food and listen to my own voices. It was the right thing to do for me.

I don't think going to church is a must. God is everywhere and you don't need to go to a church to look for him.

You don't need to go to church to prove your religion or your faith.

I don't believe in organized religion. You can be a person of faith and beliefs and not have to be apart of any church!

My Dad was a Methodist preacher and he always told me-----"you do not have to go to church --just believe in God and your church can be anywhere"!
