Is it better to remain loyal to your friend or to stick up for what's right?

I would have to take a fence-top position and say that if your friend is into something REALLY wrong (i.e., crime, drugs, alcohol to excess, etc.), then you need to go against your friend. If, however, your friend is just wrong about something minor and no one will get hurt, you may want to consider siding with your friend, especially if siding against him/her will hurt his/her feelings or make him/her look bad. Use your best judgement and go with what your gut tells you.

Depends. Will anyone be harmed by your decision? If you are speaking about an argument over what shade of blue the sky is, who cares. If it is an important moral issue, you should show character and do the right thing. That doesn't make you less of a friend. You should also explain to your friend that he is wrong and why you think so.

If the right/wrong centers around something that you absolutely cannot accept then I guess that would be more important than loyalty to your friend. And a real friend would know that and probably not put you in a situation where you would have to decide.

That's a tough one. I would stick up for what I believe is right. I can't think of the best way to explain my reason for this so I won't. If it's worth fighting about. Than fight!

Dear Ron,
Honesty is the best policy. Regardless of how much it will hurt your friend, you should always side with the truth. Your friend will initially be really pissed off at you, but in the long run will understand why you did what you did. Good luck.

Well if your friends are doing something wrong, Maybe you should pick better friends. I say If they make a mistake and do something wrong..Depending on how severe, yes i would report them. I wouldn't want to be an accomplice.

You should tell your friend what is right---------that would be a better way to be loyal and be a true friend!

No, I don't always side with them. I do, however, listen to what they have to say and respect that they have their own opinions. If I agree/disagree with them on certain aspects of the topic, I'll let 'em know, and offer my own feedback if they want to hear it. Sometimes it's just better to let your friends speak their mind and keep your thoughts to yourself. That's how I feel.

Stand up for what is right and what you believe in, but try night to loose a friend over a silly argument or debate.
