astronomical physics, distance modulus formula question?

in the equation-
M = m - 5 log(d/10)
M=absolute magnitude,
m=apparent magnitude,
d=distance,
but what is 5 log?

I figured it out! 5 log is 5 x logarithm of d/10!

It means "five times the logarithm".
