If you don't mind losing the $1000, can afford and have found a new flat, and don't mind a possible bad reference from your current landlords, I say go for whatever helps you get through the day.
Good luck.

Read over your lease. I know mine had clauses for that. If your flatmates do not keep the standard of cleanliness outlined in the lease or have people spending the night frequently (which is a clause on most leases), then they have broken the contract. However I'd give your landlord 30 days notice just to cover all grounds. It's only 30 days and you'd probably need that time to find yourself another living arrangement.
Perhaps I just don't make as much money as the rest of this board but $1000 is a lot to me--without even explaining the situation. OH and take pictures--and make the landlord do a walk through of your room when you leave just in case!

I'd say talk with your landlord and inform him of your flatmates behavior, and inform him that you are moving out immediately. Ask if you can at least get a portion of your deposit back - you might not get it, but it's worth asking.
I'd say escaping this situation is well worth $1000 in the grand scheme of things.

Quoting Dorothy ~The Wizard of Oz:
"There's no place like home..."
Quoting you:
"In the grand scheme of my life it is not too disastrous...?"
My question to you:
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Make sure "your" part of the flat is clean, well kept, etc, etc. Talk to the Landlord and explain why you ARE leaving.
But remember that in life nowadays, you must document everything; as minute as it may be: write down what you have seen, take pictures, like I say: document everything.
I truly wish you find peace of mind very soon and that "that" comfy place is ready for you.

It sounds like a bad situation. A Gr is a small price to pay for piece of mind. There is no telling what might end up missing, and if the cops come and there are illegal drugs in the house, they are not going to care if they are yours or not. Your going to jail, and its going to cost you more than a Gr to get out of that.

LEAVE! It's most certainly worth $1000 to get away from a situation you find disgusting.

How many months do you have left on the lease? If it's just a few, I'd say stick it out. But if you've got a while to go and they are that unbearable, it's probably worth leaving.

it depends- how long would you have to stick it out in order to make your deposit pay off? A few weeks? A few months? Never?
$1000 is a hefty chunk of change- but if it's not such a hit for you, get out if you're miserable.
