Don't feel guilty. While there's some homeless people genuinely in need of charity, most of them are not. Begging has become a business for some, and they do make good money, particularly in city centres or outside pubs/nightclubs and so on. I used to work in a shop where we had beggars outside most of the time. if people bought them some water or a sandwich, they came back in after a couple of minutes trying to return it in exchange for money. One beggar, "gary", came in every saturday and sunday morning to get his lose change swapped for notes. At weekend nights he would beg in the city centre and usually make between £100-150. PER NIGHT! Moreover, most of them are registered at some address or other, thus still receiving benefits. Being homeless nowadays is more often a look than an actual situation. I do realise that not all beggars fit into this description, but many do, so therefore remain sceptical and be aware that the needy might actually have quite a nice additional income (and all that untaxed)! If you do want to help, donate money to charitites helping homeless people, as they are always in need and probably find it easier to separate the real needy from the just greedy.

the old lady has the credit card....my christmas gift is if she keeps it under four figures when the bill shows up...ho ho ho think she's going to get a sock of coal this year... maybe some thing shiny in there too....
