Is there a bias in this country against ""little people" holding office?

We've already had our fair share of "mental midgets"

i suspect you've touched on an unconscious element of human psychology.

research has shown that politics, both in governments and corporations, somehow favors tall people. They tend to be elected or elevated somewhat more frequently than shorter people.

In terms of anthropology, I suspect this is because back in the pre-history of humanity, the big, tall man was likely to be a slightly more effective warrior than his neighbor. [Think Conan] This lead to him becoming the leader and, through the mechanism of survival, tall people came to be unconsciously associated with effective leadership.

In modern society, the unconscious pre-disposition seems to still exist. Shorter people have to be uncommonly effective and stand out in order to get ahead.

{Btw, this likely is part of the issue with women as well.}

I have never run across an election where a "little person" has tried to get elected.
