Could I decide on my sexuality at 13, or am I too young?
To be honest at the moment I'm not sure I'm totaly straight, but hate to say that word.
The reason I think not is that I really fancy Celine Dion, I just love her so much and think she is a beautiful person on the inside and out. But maybe this is just an infactuation.
Anyway tell me what you think, sorry if you're a bit disgusted at the fact it's Celine Dion, but I can't help my feelings.
Thanks in advance x
:)

All I can say is, that I certainly knew by the time I was 13. Ditto my partner; ditto most of my friends.

But not everything is fixed for everyone by that age. Just relax and have some fun. If you are gay, you will soon be certain; just as you will if you are not.

As for Celine Dion ... well, there is someone for everyone, babe.

A lot of teenagers sometimes experience an attraction towards a member of the same sex - especially if they feel ill at ease with their peers. It doesn't mean you're definetely homosexual. If you constantly experience same sex attraction throughout the rest of your childhood, and it becomes directed to people around you then it would suggest that you were homosexual or bisexual.

Are there qualities you see in Celine Dion that you'd like for yourself? Also, do you get on well with your own mother? (do you see Celine Dion as a replacement)? Apologies if this is irrelevant to your scenario. These are all things which could influence a single case of what you describe.

If however, you turn out to be homosexual or bisexual then this is nothing to worry about. At 13, its definetely too early to say for sure what your orientation is since things can change. At 13, I appeared to be "homosexual" and then turned out to be bisexual in the end. Despite being labelled the same thing by some people, those two orientations are completely different.

There are a lot of gay people who say they knew at a young age they were gay, but at the same time it's really common to be confused about your sexuality when you're a teenager and just because you're attracted to women now doesn't necessarily mean you're a lesbian. When I was about 13 or 14 I used to fantasise about women all the time and I really thought I was a lesbian for a while. As I got older I just became more attracted to men than women. Sexuality is a very fluid thing so there's no point giving yourself labels or deciding you're a lesbian at 13. Maybe you are, maybe you're not. Just don't worry about it, sure you could decide on your sexuality at 13, but the point is you don't have to.

You don't **have to** decide anything at this point in your life.

IF you know for sure you have sexual and romantic feelings for girls / women, so be it. IF you know for sure that you have sexual and romantic feelings for boys, so be it. But if you're not sure yet, don't worry about it. There's no need to rush to put a label on yourself.

Your feelings for Celine Dion sound to me simply like the infatuation of a fan for a celebrity. If you said you loved a girl, or a woman, that you actually knew personally, that might be a different story. But if Celine is the only female you have these feelings for, then it may be premature for you to conclude that you're not straight.

Give yourself more time to get to know yourself before you put labels on yourself.

I think you're a bit young to be worrying whether you're gay or straight. Sexuality is fluid and often changes during one's life anyway.

Lots of people have huge infatuations with celebrities of the same gender. That doesn't necessarily mean they're gay. People often become enamored with the "cult of personality" and charisma that celebrities generate.

What I think will tell you more about your sexuality is when you start to develop sexual feelings for someone you know and interact with on a daily basis. If you start to have feelings for girls rather than guys, then it's a good possibility that you're at least bisexual.

But don't label yourself just because you have a celebrity crush.

Given today's social climate, I don't think 13 is too young. I mean, kids today are getting pregnant when they get their first period.

But c'mon...Celine Dion? Not judging, cuz there's someone for everyone I guess. I personally just can't do the whole whiny, high voice, diva thing. Waaaaaaay too femme for MY taste. More power to ya.

I was like this when I was 13, and now I'm 15 and this past year I've only liked girls!
Just wait a year, because you might end up liking a guy.
There's the people that say it's "just a phase" and in some aspects this could be true, it could just be a phase.

There's nothing you can do, but let time pass and see who you next fall for.

i think that at 13 you can decide who you are attracted to but that these feelings can change over the course of your teens let them change and don't be affraid of them changing no one says u have to stay the same forever. it may turn out your gay or straight or bisexual but lets just hope that the celine dion things goes quickly no one deserves that

it's not a matter of decision honey. it's how you feelings. and if you have feelings for men and women or just celine dion or whatever, just let them develope. i think that the problem with sexuality or the problem people have with it is that it seems as if it has to be black or white, has to be defined. just be who you are and let if flow
