Though you may not be able to discern them, there are reasons why you're feeling this way. They don't necessarily have anything to do with your current situation, either.

Fear is caused by the thought that something bad may happen to you and/or people you care about.

Sadness is caused by loss.

If these feelings are based on accurate perceptions (i.e. you have actually experienced a loss and there is a real chance that something bad may happen) then they are valid feelings. If that's the case, then there's no need to "do something" to get rid of the feelings. Instead you need to address the causes of those feelings. With sadness you either recover or replace what you lost, or you work out a way to let go of it. With fear you eliminate the cause of potential danger.

If the feelings aren't based on accurate perceptions, then you should be able to defuse them with a simple reality check: "Hmmm, I didn't really lose anything, so there's no reason to feel sad."

If you find there are no detectable current causes for the feelings, it's quite possible that they're learned reactions from earlier (usually much earlier) in life. In that case you may need help from a professional to find those earlier causes and eliminate them. There are a number of possible professionals you could consult on this, but I've found that the fastest and most efficient results come from a hypnotherapist who practices one of the "find the cause, don't just address the symptoms" methods of hypnotherapy like 5-PATH.

Alot of people have these kinds of feelings occasionally or go through phase. As long as it's not interrupting your ability to live your life, it's something you can manage. If it becomes something that is consuming and taking over your life, you really need to talk to a counselor about it - it could be an anxiety disorder. If this is the kind of fear that comes from simply seeing what is happening in the news and on TV and thinking of 9-11 and all of the possibilities for the destruction of the US - that kind of fear is justified. This feeling could be natural for this time in the world. A really fascinating book about current events and the end times is called, Armageddon, Oil and Terror. It may be a natural response to the events of our day and where they are leading. Even if you're not a Christian, this is a fascinating book that you will find interesting. The bible says that nature groans to be released from it's present condition. It only makes sense that people would feel this in their heart and alot of people do. I don't really worry about it but yeah - it's always there. I wonder if planes will fall from the sky and sometimes I wonder if I'll see a missle flying overhead. It's not really outlandish in other countries to have havoc wreaking. Sometimes I wonder if some freak suicide bomber is going to strike when I'm in a big crowd and I wonder if they will start on attacking churches.

I've had bulimia, depression and anxiety but i take pills for them now, it can get like that if not treated properly. If you're in a teen state of mind then it's normal but you should consider seeing someone anyways Most teens that expierence it will grow out of it but some don't and it gets really bad. It can also run in families. My mom, two sisters and brother have all been depressed.

The world is screwed up right now. Try to make sure you are eating right, get enough exercise, and sunshine. If this feeling doesn't go away, see a doctor. Maybe use St Johns Wort from the healtfood store.

I do not know your age but I am guessing you are having a chemical imbalance. This is affecting your mood. Go see your doctor and explain it to him. He will probably prescribe a medication to help you get through these times.
