Significance yes... I do know very intelligent people who spell awful! My doctor is a great example. The times I can read his writing I see most words are horribly spelled! Could be he is in a hurry, or that it matters not...since he is a doctor! But I myself have to admit, I have denied persons employment, from all their miss spelled words on their applications. For fear their spelling is also a example not only of their intelligence, but of the way they will communicate with others.

Of course. Since spelling is a very basic type of knowledge, the public looks upon poor spellers and judges them based on this. It is not to say that the public is always correct, but history has taught us to believe this to be the truth.

Of course it does....when my daughter was in pre-school, the director would put out a monthly news letter....I would read it and red-pen circle the spelling errors and throw it back on her desk........these people are teaching MY child how to spell??????

I know when I was reviewing applicants if their application was full of miss spelled words I would not consider them for the job
