Look I love Star Wars! The movies were cool! They had a great stories, special effects, characters, directing & musical score, etc. I personally am not a Star Trek fan because I just don't understand it yet I did watch Star Trek Generations which was pretty good. I respect the Star Trek franchise. My problem is that these losers are always talking about this rivarly of which one is better everyday with no end to it & have nothing better to talk about!
Look I like Star Wars more because it was limited to only six movies, very few spin-offs & some of the games were actually good though there were too many of them. Now that Star Wars is being developed for TV audiences, I think its might kill the franchise & going a little too far but we'll see. I think Star Trek did pretty good in movies, TV & very few video games.
To me, the nerds who involve everyday people who are not so praising the franchises are killing it for them & have noting better to do! Do you think this is true or not?

I'm not a sci-fi geek..so I wasn't aware there was a bloodfued. That kinda makes me laugh..do the nerds at the conventions get their undies in a bunch over this? Anyways..I like both, but always liked Star Wars more.

Both are enjoyable; I agree with the other answerer that Star Trek is more about science, while Star Wars is more about fantasy. Both have their good points and their bad points. I grew up watching Star Trek, so I'm biased toward that one, but I don't have any particular dislike for Star Wars; I just tend to gravitate toward things that challenge my mind.

I don't think the rivalry between the two is killing the franchises; if heated rivalries killed franchises, we'd have no professional sports organizations. Some sports fans can go absolutely bananas over their team to the point of inciting violence against the other team. (I had a college professor who refereed peewee hockey - little kids' hockey! - and he received death threats from a parent of one of these kids for a call that he made!) Some people are just overly serious about their fandoms; fan is, after all, short for fanatic.

"Fan is, after all, short for fanatic" ... that's a good one ... I'll have to remember that one.

As for the question ... I don't "hate" the rivalry ... I am, after all, a Jedi Master and we don't "hate" ... lol ... but I do think the rivalry is pretty stupid. I also am a fan of both but only a fanatic for Star Wars. As has been said, both have unique things to offer and let's be real for a moment ... they only actually have two things in common ... 1) They both have the word "Star" in their titles ... 2) The both deal with things in "space" ... aside from that they are very different. The scientific and fantasy difference is very true. Also Star Trek is "earth based" in that we have spread through out the galaxy and found other beings while Star Wars is ... well ... a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. I really don't think the "rivalry" is killing both franchises but I do think it opens us fans up for more ridicule. I can just see the headline in the paper ... " A Geek dressed as a Klingon and a Geek dressed like Darth Vader were arrested at comic-con today for getting into a brawl over what the better series was ..." now granted, even I would find a headline like that amusing but it also makes me a little sad because I've actually seen a couple headlines that said something like that in them ... come on fans ... can't we all just get along ... lol ... BTW ... you all know that Vader would seriously kick Worf's butt don't you.

Personally I don't care much. I enjoy both for what they are. Star Trek is more "fact/scientific" based and Star Wars is more fantasy based. Both are great franchises and should be enjoyed for (again) what they are.

I think it is stupid, they both have something to offer. It depends on each person what he/or she likes. They both are good, I perfer Trek, but I like them both very much.
