This depends on why and what drugs, and why you don't want to take them. I'd get a second opinion. Some psychiatric disorders are real physiological issues, where drugs are a real cure (You would not turn down drugs if you were diabetic, would you?) But there are also doctors who incorrectly diagnose and overprescribe. So your best next step is probably a second opinon.

That you need another opinion; wich is actually what you must look for.
But, there is nothing wrong about medication if you need it; it is going to keep you better and functional, could imagine somebody diabetic who should take insulin and not taking it 'cause he is agains "drugs"?
The problem is that there is some missunderstaning in our society (meaning globally, it is not different in Mexico or anywhere else) about psychiatric disseases, we can find that if anybody has a kidney problem or a hepatic disorder he must take medication, but many people is not able to see that the brain is an organ as any other, and if there is something wrong on its functon and some medication could help, there is not difference; actually it is more dangereus to NOT take medication if you need it, either in kidney, liver or brain disseases.
I think your problem is your language, you call "drugs" to anything we call in spanish "medicina", and we call "drogas" only to thinks like cocaine, methanfethamine, crack, LSD or stuffs like that.
By the way, I don't understand why is this question in "travel" section, even when you said it is Mx psychiatrist; this is more "health".

All psyciatrists want to put people on medication. What's the difference? If you don't like it, go to a psych in the States and see if he tells you different... but, a psych is a psych!

I guess the wife could go to Mexico to join her husband there. Maybe she shouldn't have married an illegal felon. Just how guilty is he of trafficing drugs, anyway? Another things occurs to me, also. How about turning off the baby factory? 5 kids in a few years should be enough. Most of us are not too sympathetic for illegal aliens nowdays. What does all this have to do with people overseas serving their country, anyway? US Army vet.
