I think it's really cool.
I'd love to play it.

It is a great sport that is amazing for developing spatial accuity, and hand eye coordination. the Olympic style fencing has undergone several rule changes that some enoy and some traditionalist despise(the flick) etc. Like most things portrayed in film the real thing is different. The movements are small and precise and not flamboyant like movies. If you would like historical fencing(Longsword, Rapier), becareful, it is hard to find anyone qualified to teach the real thing, with information taken from the surviving texts. You would have better luck finding a group that studies these manuscripts together. There are several reputable groups on the internet. It can't hurt to try and usually less exspensive than karate and other sports.

It is a very graceful, powerful, and difficult sport that takes a lot of practice to master. At the same time, it is extremely rewarding, and you meet a lot of really cool people. It is a sport for all ages and all experience levels, and it's fun to watch yourself get better and better!

I think it is silly. It has odd rules such as “right of way”, not being allowed to side step, and not allowed to use the off hand. You use funny swords that are not historically accurate.
I prefer what I got involved in, Historical European Swordsmanship. Two-handed longsword is so much cooler. You can side step, use your off hand, disarm your opponent, and more.
