If you have to ask this question it should be plain to everyone who answers that you know diddly about hockey. Come on, 6 cups, 2 MVPs and a Conn Smythe. What can we expect next from you, Gretzky doesn't belong? It's about performance and Messier was high octane. Your personal bias did not come in to play in this choice, thank goodness.

Come on dude. I am a diehard Isles fan since '72, and I loved chanting 1940 as much as the next guy, but I have no doubt that Messier belongs in the Hall of Fame. Without Messier, the Rangers still don't win the Cup (the Devils would have had them in the semis). He did the same with the Oilers (arrrrrggggghhhh!).
As much as I hate the guy, he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

um, yes he does. Saying Mark Messier deserves to be in the Hall of Fame is like saying the world is round.

Seeing as how only Wayne Gretzky has more points than Mark Messier, Who would you include in the Hall of Fame if not Mark Messier ? Would we just have the Wayne Gretzky Hall of Fame ?
Edit: Since when has Crosby ever spouted off at the mouth or been known to be a braggart ? You are mistaking the media for being his voice...
Note: If you were to disqualify players from their respective sports Hall of Fames for ego, you'd have a lot of empty Hall of Fames... They are in the Hall of Fame for being the best, which basically makes their ego based on fact.

With all the cups he won with the Oilers he should be. Then you have to look at his guarantee in game 6 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals against the Devils. His hat trick in that game and leadership brought New York it's first cup in 54 years. He was a good player and should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Ty Cobb once said, "it's not bragging if you really done it..."
Messier has done it ALL in hockey, so anything he says on the subject doesn't qualify as bragging... take away the talk and you have the second most productive player ever to lace them up. I'd add that he rarely played on the same line as Gretzky, so he earned most of those numbers with lesser players than the Great One haed to work with.

You don't have to like a player to respect his ability.
HOF in every sport is filled with guys who had a great deal of difficulty seperating foot from mouth.
Baseball has Ty Cobb.
Basketball has Charles Barkley.
Football has O J Simpson, now there's a fine example of humanity, but he was a damned good football player.
So yeah, Messier belongs, why wouldn't he?

>>>Scoring over 80 points 12 times
>>>Scoring over 100 points 6 times
>>>Played 25 NHL seasons

He's an egotistical loud mouth, but a champion and great Hockey player. I'm sure there are people in there less deserving.
