Pressing Shift+Delete only deletes the file without putting it in the recycle bin. Actually the process of deletion is the same. Windows marks the storage area as writable. Unless the storage area is overwritten any good recovery software can easily recover deleted data. Try "Recovery" or "Undelete"

Yes, you can restore files that you have "permanently" deleted
either by shift +delete or emptying your recycle bin using the software you find scattered all over the web. If you dont want to install anything, though, you cannot get the files back.

Shift + Delete removes the data from you system and can usually only be recovered by a professional data recovery company.

Find an ISO of an UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD). It's a bootable disk that has a s**t ton of tools for testing your machine. It can check RAM to see if it's failing, check the CPU, test hard drives for errors, Run FULL wipes on your entire hard drive and you can also select how many passes you want. 1 pass would be ok but there could still be reminiscent data on the drive. 3 passes should do the trick. but if you want to make it so even the CIA cant find anything. Just do like 15. I know the wiping tool I use can let you do up to 35 passes. I use Active KillDisk and sometimes Derik's boot n' nuke.

Did you check on yor desktop in the trash can. They could still be in there. Unless you deleted them from that location also.

It is kindof a back up in case you dont want to really toss something.

Good luck on it.

You might also find those files in other directories. Try a search from the start bar on you desktop.

No,
Shift + delete however will negate that process to recycle bin and immediately unlabel the files thus deleting them from your hard drive.

Yep. When you delete something, your computer only loses its location. The data stays on your hard drive until something writes over the part of the hard drive that the data was stored on. There are programs that can find the data that you've deleted. Like Recuva.

Yes, there are free utilities available that can "undelete" files. Search google for "Restoration" or click the link below (restoration is one of the programs you can use):
