People can take many routes to get were they need to go. There will be shortcuts and dead ends. All we can do is use these as learning material for our final destination. Ask them if they have ever made a mistake or been perfect in everything they do, probaly not. It is VERY common for people to change their studies. Best you do it now than later. They are probaly just worried. You know how they can get sometimes.

Reading your question I had to laugh a little bit. You know what you want to do and you are making the changes in your life to get there. Keep your determination it is a great asset. Catch out other colleges and see if they have classes that will use the languages that you want to have a degree in. It doesn't have to be an exact degree in order to pursue your dreams. For instance you could major in Anthropology and journey abroad or you can be a linguist and work for the government translating. In either case you will still be in the area that you want just academically it will show a different degree.

Absolutely not!!!!!!! It's not for everyone. I know a girl who gave up college after 3 yrs cause she just hated it, Got a job in a hair salon w/o a hair license(don't ask me how). She is in a big town and now makes $65,000 a yr. Her "chosen" profession would have pd. less. She loves her job, couldn't be happier. People sometimes just need to live outside the box.

If you are confident and have no doubts, forget others comments and pursue what you want. Always stay true to yourself. Life is full of options, maybe the decision you are making will lead to something great. Probably will!!!

Sounds like you are keeping your options open and striving to pursue your dream. You don't want to regret down the road that you didn't follow that dream do you?
