I'm a first semester freshman and I'm attempting to estimate my gpa since it's almost the end of the semester

I believe I'm getting between a
2.6 (lowest possible gpa)
and a 3.4 (highest possible gpa)

i should end up around a 2.8 to a 3.0
is that a bad gpa for a first semester freshman??

It is better than my freshman GPA back all those years ago. I went ten years ago and it was miserable. Of course I had a psycho stalker ex boyfriend to deal with and the death of my grandpa and grandma my first two semester. I had to drop and wait almost 8 years to go back. Do your best and strive for those A's and B's. If you have trouble get a tutor. I learned the hard way.

It's not so bad, no. Freshman year is often a year of adjustment, and it's sometimes the case that your grades in your first semester of college are your lowest of your college career, and they get better from there. But you need to really focus on your grades in second semester, and start doing better. If you need tutoring, ask for it - there's no shame in this. The resources are there. But make sure that, by the time you graduate, your overall GPA is above a 3.0. The higher above a 3.0, the better it looks to employers.

Some employers won't hire if your GPA is below a 3.0. And some grad schools won't admit you.

"bad" is anything under 2.0 which will keep you from graduating. "good" is anything over 3.0 which is the minimum to keep most academic scholarships. "excellent" is anything over 3.5 which is usually required for academic honors.

One thing to remember as you work on this year is that your GPA at the end of your freshman year is incredibly important. As you add more hours to your transcript, the impact of a single grade on your GPA falls. Right now (as a first semester freshman), each class is about 1/5 of your GPA. When you're a senior in your last semester, each class will be less than 1/40 of your GPA - that means it's easier to change your GPA now than when you're a senior and for that reason, your freshman GPA is often a good indicator of the GPA you'll graduate with.

It's alright. If you want to continue onto Masters level you'll need to aim for 3.0-3.5. Some programs are picky.

Most scholarships for college (bachelors level) require a minimum of 2.5 otherwise they ask for money back. Luckily the 2.5 is an average for all the courses and not per course.
