I am sorry to hear that your dad is falling ill.
I would ask for the hospitals social worker. Social workers are skilled individuals that have access to all sorts of agency's and organizations. In fact they know the community. Tell them your concern and hopefully they are able to find a solution.
If the doctor writes your dad disabeled., than through the Social Security disability agency, he could apply for SSI or disability benefits. But they take long to respond. But give it a shot. Good luck. Hope your dad will be alright.

You can get a power of attorney. That means you can legally act on his behalf financially (make deposits, withdraw ls, transfers, sign checks). Contact his financial institution. Some will have a form there you can take and fill out and the hospital should have someone there who can notarize it. Some make you go through more hoops.

NOW on the other hand about his bills.... contact each of the companies he pays and tell them the situation once you have the power of attourney. Some will be willing to make arrangements with you.

Good luck!

Depending on what state you are in, he may be eligible for state temporary disability. Check with the state employment compensation department.

Get a second job or Apply for SSI for him.
