As an Englishman who owns many major US based companies I feel I must ask this.
As everyone is aware Americans dont have a very good track record when it comes to wars and they are guilty of shooting more allies than enemies.I have a theory which you may agree with;
The guns that American troops use are brought from fairgrounds across the USA. thus saving money for the American government. In my opinion the guns given to the American troops are the ones fairgrounds give you to knock cans over with. The sneeky fairground owners have bent the gun barrels to stop prizes being won, thus when the Americans troops are trying to shoot the enemy they shoot the goodies instead.
Thats why they are so bad.
Anyone agree?

If it wasn't for the Americans, we would probably all now be "enjoying" the Thousand Year Reich now. Granted, the USA did not "win" World War Two on their own: Britain, Russia, the Commonwealth nations, and many others contributed; but the USA was supporting Britain and Russia long before they even entered the war (read the stories of the Atlantic and Arctic convoys).

I am not going to go into great detail about the American war effort; except to say that we owe them a huge debt of gratitude that people seem to have forgotten.

As to your original question: does anyone actually "win" a war? Humanity is the loser: wars should not be started in the first place.

Personally, it's a sin that you are allowed to own any business in the US. Not that I think you do. That is a problem in this country. Anybody can come here and buy a business when they cannot get squat in their own country. They come here and take advantage of the freedoms offered and then crab about it. Go back to where you came from if it was so much better there. Why are you here at all?

England is still irritated that we became independent. Losers. What happened to all the countries that England had their fingers and noses into in the past? They certainly meddeled into a lot of others affairs - Africa, India, Ireland - don't get me started on that one. It's like the pot calling the kettle black.

Most of the answers to this question reveal another sad statement regarding another problem in this country. Too many freedoms. People who trash this country while working here, raising their families here, etc. If they hate it so very much, I don't understand why they don't leave. Because they would not be able to function in another country. They would be shot or beheaded or jailed if heard making comments about the country they are in. Here, it's freedom of speech. I'd glady give up a few freedoms if it would get rid of the malcontents that are here.

Kudos to all those who stick up for your country, even though you know it's not perfect. Loyalty is a word a lot do not know.

You ever heard of the saying?

Lead.....Follow......or Get The Hell Out of the Way!!

It doesn't help when you have a den of liers and thieves in Congress either. Get these scumbags out of the way, and we can kick anyones a@s. We proved that during the tet offensive. Then congress step in,and the rest is black history. We can thank Clinton for Somalia. He was too busy with Monica,to authorize more equipement. (Proven fact).

I'll say it loud and clear, I DO QUESTION THE PATRIOTISM OF SOME CONGRESSMEN AND OTHERS THAT WORK IN OUR GOVERNMENT!!

And I have the Constitutional right to say that!

Any time you got a bunch of knuckle headed morons like we have in congress,it's pretty hard to win a war. Listen to them when they open their mouths. The only thing that comes out is how evil they think there own Country is. Their to stupid to know that their the problem. Or is it by design?

Nikita Khrushchev,President of the USSR, took off his shoe and pound on the table while sceaming,"We will bury you, without firing a shot."

Looking back at our Congress over the decades and especially today,I fear he was right! But it won't be Russia. It very well could be china using an economic weapon.

To Dice: If we stole it from the indians; how come are we still paying them and their decendents?

Liam craik noran: We're enbred? You should have looked up the history of the blue blood Brits before accusing someone else of that. You're a documented fact!!!!!!

The Brits broke the Enigma code, however the Yanks did seize the cypher. the U. S. fought to a stalemate in Korea, and misplaced in Vietnam and Laos. Iraq is unlikely too stable the two, variety of appears like Vietnam with extra physique armor and much less warring events.

Sid,

The firearms most commonly utilized by the US Armed forces are a 5.56 mm nato, a 7.62x51 mm and a 9mm. The "gun" used in the fairground is a .177 cal air pellet rifle. The .177 air pellet projectile has virtually no mass and little propulsion rendering it almost harmless (you can shoot your eye out with one though). The 9mm has the lowest maximum effective range of these three different types of projectiles used by the US military with 50 meters(meaning if you use your marksman fundamentals and extreme weather is not a factor you will hit a man sized target). The air pellet rifles used at the fair grounds usually aren't accurate to 5 meters.

As far as American fighting prowess goes I've got a rhetorical question for you.

If the American fighting man is so incompetent, how did he beat one of the most powerfull empires in history (the British)in our Revolution and again in the War of 1812?

To any British Service members who might read the previous,

I have the utmost amount of respect for you guys, you are among the few outside of our own forces we can count on and when we did fight each other you were worthy opponents(Any group that can succeed with odds like that at Rourke's Drift commands respect). I'll happily tilt a pint (or pints) with you and yours anyday of the week.

Cheers

A.C.

Back up your statement with some facts, please.
Lets list all the wars the the US became involved in & then have a win-lose-tie column like for your local footbal club.
1776-1783 war -won
1812-1814 war -won-arguements can be made for a draw, but the British gave more concessions than the Americans to end this one,
1826-29 Spanish War-won, the US got Florida out of the deal
1848-49 Mexican war-won the US got the top half of the mexican empire in this one
1861-1865 internal conflict-won the USA beat the CSA
1870's-1890's Latin Anerican Interventions-Won
1898 Spanish war-won, got the Philipines, & Puerto Rico
1917-1918 WW1-won
1941-1945 WW2-won
1949-1989 Cold War-won
1950-present Korea-draw
1964-1972 Vietnam-lost
1983-Grenada-won, but please, can you call overrunning a lightly defended island a war?
1985-Panama-won, though technically, this was more of a coup.
1986-Lebanon-lost. Not technically a war, but the troops were withdrawn without acheiving the ill-defined political objective
1991-Iraq-won
1994-99 Balkans-Won
1994-Somalia-lost, again, not technically a war, but again troops were withdrawn without having acheived the political objectives
2002-present- Afganistan-
2003-present -Iraq-
Both the last two issues are in serious doubt. One could make the arguement that the military actions to remove the repective govt's of those two countries were wins, but the pacification of the general populace is failing (sort of like the English occupation/pacification of Ireland).
Looking at the win/loss/draw record, it looks like the Americans have won far more than they have lost.
14 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, & the last two still ongoing

Maybe you could try checking the historical record before asking such questions in a vain & foolish attempt to make some sort of political point?
Or you could drop the dodgy attempt at humor (it failed, BTW) and just come out & say "The Americans are stupid to use their military as a tool of foriegn policy because___"

Why do people keep saying the Americans saved the British in WW2? It was in fact 20 million dead Russians, America conveniently joined after we had run up a huge national debt.
