I've only been in a cab 1 or 2 times in the last 20 years or so.
Before then, I seem to recall finding the typical gum and candy wrappers, loose change, a briefcase, someones portfolio, and, what I think was the previous night's drop of a numbers runner -- "I swear Boss, I swear. I didn't take it. No, Boss, NO. Bang,... thud...

In a 1967 episode of The Avengers a man left a white hankerchief with a knot in it in the back of a cab. Imagine finding one of those! That'd make my day.
