You know, the ones who are in debt up to their eyeballs, but STILL insist on going out to eat almost every day of the week and/or buying clothes they don't need.

It makes me just want to slap some sense into them!

I feel your aggrevation. I know people like that, and yes it makes me want to grab them by the side of the head, look them in the face and say "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!?!"

I had a neighbor one time that lived "high off the hog" so to speak. You know the type, only shop at Macys and/or Nordstroms, fancy new car, all new tools for the garage, all new furniture, blah blah blah. Kinda made me feel badly (in a way) since I had older cars, and didn't buy the nicer things for my family. They never really rubbed our noses in it, but in a way they did, with all their fancy vacations, etc. He was a supervisor for UAL and life was good. One day, this guy comes to me and says he is getting a consolidation loan, and I said how couldthat be? You already have a second on the house, and your loan balance exceeds the market value of your home??? After a lengthy conversation, he disclosed he was filing bankruptcy because they could no longer afford the minimum payments on their many credit cards. Eventually, he did file BK, but was also able to keep all his "luxuries" he had acquired during his irresponsible days of overspending. The part that kills me is that their income remained stable during this entire period, but the government forgave their reckless spending spree and they were able to keep all their goodies.

I was furious!!!! Once they were able to shed all their credit card bills, once again came the lavish vacations etc. Shortly after Bankruptcy, they took their entire family to Hawaii for a week.

I just flat out don't get it.

Yeah..they buy all sorts of luxuries but then say "I can't afford it" when it comes to necessities. I have a friend like that and I get irritated when she owes the hospital I work for her co-pay or deductible and she says she can't afford to pay us when her and her husband go out and buy her 16 year old a brand new mustang!!
