lol.. no they wouldn't
These sort of people are only brave behind a computer. It gives them strength.
**edit. I had to laugh at the last paragraph from the Guardian. What free speech. Yahoo are always blocking free speech, they just don't monitor it very quickly. LOL. Great link.
AMY below. Yahoo can track you down at the request of the Police. That is why you have an IP address. There is a difference in Free Speech & Slanderous defamatory accusations made about someones character. Most people online would not have the B*llocks to say some of the things they say online, to someones face.

So only people who have nothing bad to say have a valid opinion? tsssk "all it takes is a turned back for 1 minute" but that isn't what happened, is it? Do you actually know what happened? What about poor Madeleine? You show lots of concern and understanding for her parents but what about Madeleine herself? Our sympathy and thoughts should be directed at Madeleine and no-one else. The McCanns made their bed and now they've gotta lie in it. Whatever suffering they're going through is insignificant compared to what Madeleine will have felt/be feeling. That poor child went through God knows what and all because of what is described as a naive mistake. Every time I hear someone try to justify this as a 'naive mistake' I just get more and more wound up. THAT is why i'll keep posting negative comments. There is no justification. It's a worrying state of affairs when a child is abducted due to neglect and scores of people run to defend it as a 'mistake'. Makes you wonder how many more children will end up being the victim of this kind of 'mistake'.

It isn't just the McCanns who get it in the neck.
There seem to be people here who do not understand the difference between freedom of speech and libel/defamation. Because they don't understand they refuse to accept that there is a difference. Why do they think that the laws of slander and libel exist? They are certainly nothing new!

Well it might be "libelous bile" to you but opinions to other people.
You are entitled to your opinion as other people are entitled to theirs.
Who are u to pronounce?
I hope people r getting the message that nobody will be made to suppress their opinions about the McCanns or for that matter anything else.

Oooooh, I bet the McCanns would sue people for expressing opinions too, they've spent all the 'charity' they set ups money, they're now in danger of having to #gasp# spend some of their own!
So a few court cases would get their world tou- or wait, sorry, 'their hunt for their daughter' back on track.

You know, I'm so sick of hearing about all these people that are in defense of the McCanns trying to tear down and discredit the "anti-McCanns". The fact of the matter is, none of us know what happened. All we know is there's a child missing and presumably dead (I hope not). But for anyone to think that they have anymore insight than anybody else is absurd. I'm on the fence about this topic. I don't know if her parents did it or not, I'm not going to judge them until it's proven, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did this. Most cases it is the parents. So I'm not surprised that there are "anti-McCanns" especially since both of her parents are considered suspects. Police officers just don't label people "suspects" for no reason at all. I think we all need to be patient and wait. But while we do, don't let the tabloids or other people's opinions get to you. You're an adult. Get over it. People have the right to think what they want despite having different views from yourself. I'm anti-religion, but that doesn't mean I hate people who believe in god, or a god and that I don't associate and are close to people who are religious. I have my opinion and my views, so does everyone else. If the cops tracked me based on my opinion than that's a violation of my 1st amendment right. I wouldn't care either. I didn't hurt anyone, what, are people hurting your feelings on here when they trash the McCanns? I didn't know that was a crime! Life is cruel, you're going to hear things, whether it's about you or others and sometimes it won't be pleasant.

The technology is there for the authorities to obtain anything on here. Yahoo record the IP address of everything & everybody on here. At the press of a button they can come up with everything anyone said.

First you need to learn the laws on libel second you have to remember we're not living in Burma.
The UKIP activist was standing for parliament - that's the difference.
Thanks for the Guardian link though - interesting stuff.

And the police would do what exactly? if they could track 'us' down. Arrest us all for having an opinion!
I am what is classed as an 'anti' on here. However i do NOT think they had anything to do with her disappearance, other than to leave her wide open to the opportunity of being taken - which somebody took!

It would still be posted, it would just mean the person posting it would be more careful in the WAY it was posted - IE so it would not be traceable.
