No, I think studies show that apes and monkeys demonstrate behavior that suggests they feel those emotions. And my dog is greedy about his food bowl and he hates cats. The difference is that he is not aware of it and cannot contemplate it.

The emotions and feelings felt by conscious beings isn't the debate. Humans have "thought" which is the ability to feel in symbols, are the application of symbolism to feelings. A complicated process based on the ability to form cultures and societies, combinded with our animal ability to empathize (yes animals feel for others, isn't that f'in hard, atleast not for animals, wait were animals, why do we make this so hard?). With out the social structure were all hatful, greeding, surviving machines..... with a little love to keep it going;-), of course in our culture....

I don't know, but I bet we are. Animals have feelings, but I don't think they include hate or greed.

sounds about right, no other animal has the thought process for hate and greed, it's all about survivability and instinct.

particular because of the fact we are one in each of few "animals" that would reason. The, i think of two, different species that would reason are like different primates and dogs, neither of which understand those 2 words you requested approximately. yet they have become a often conventional habit for human beings.

No of course not. Ask anyone who looks after animals with higher intelligence and they will tell you. Chimps are quite definitely capable of both of these.
