Outside of everyday items . . . underwear, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, shampoo . . . there's really not any good reason to shop there . . . Walmart is one of those odd retail entities that has a converse relationship with the economy . . . when you see a huge jump in sales it's because the economy is trending down.

I see this problem and I'm concerned. I also understand how it happened; the expression that comes to mind is: Free Commerce. And in the end "we the people" don't really matter much... save to consume via buying... and "To the victor go the spoils". Does sound like a kind of war, yes? Ah... but it IS the war we choose.. through our very own actions! We want the cleanest hair, the brightest smile, the coolest video game machine, the nicest cars, a laptop we can take anywhere on this planet and use! In a nutshell; the most toys! We chose this, now we must live and die by this choice. Unfortunately, we are not as in charge as we'd like to be!

It's simple, more profits come from pockets that can't affort expenditures.

Think about it this way...the poor (which is ALL of us) put this junk on our credit cards and make low payments. These purcheses are immediatley paid by the major credit card companies and then we (the poor...ALL of us) pay interest (aka a subscription fee) on our purchases.

In the end there's record profits, and record debt. That equals a recession.

Even more basically, you can't spend more than you earn, or there will be a defecit, and therefore a recession (which is a fancy term for reduced spending by the poor).

In the end we will lose global power, and eventually we will see our nations wealth allign with other powers...

Welcome to Facism.

We look to think of by using coming up money out of skinny air will save us afloat. united statesa. imho is decaying on all levels. think of approximately it. We deliver out welfare exams (stimulus exams), to attempt to boost our economic equipment. A usa that does no longer produce shall fall... What does united statesa. produce? The USD is valueless and your procuring capability is dwindling...employer are all caught up in a cost adjustment conflict. it somewhat is the reason commodity communities have been so solid. We as a persons are being advised lies. in fact the inflation fee is approximately 15%. The fed has no plan. they are actually not dumb they see the large issues. pay attention you could no longer fix a small crack by using pouring truckloads of money in it. The crack will become wider and so what does the fed do? they only usher in greater sell off trucks of money. This has been taking place for a protracted time. Now that crack that replaced into in basic terms some inches is now 30’ extensive and demands hundreds of sell off trucks to attempt to fill the hollow. This recommendations-set to our concern is the dumbest element. i think we are interior the begining of sorrow and woes which will spiral uncontrolled around the globe. The robin hod goverment will proceed to take from the poor to grant to the wealthy. this suggests we will pay for all people who over prolonged mortagaes and could no longer pay down debt. you're gazing the autumn of the yank Empire!!

I see Wal-Mart's business practices as contributing to and feeding off of the weak US dollar. They do this in two ways, first by buying cheap foreign-made products which sends money outside the US economy. Second, they are essentially using government (taxpayer-funded) public assistance programs to subsidize and underwrite those high profit margins in "Wally World".
-- WAL-MART Costs Taxpayers $1,557,000,000 to Support its Employees...
Wal-mart keeps it's wage cost so low and benefits cost so high that state-funded (taxpayer $s) assistance programs end up footing the bill. This "principled" corporation does provide information to employees about public assistance programs in their local areas. There's a very eye-opening documentary, "Wal-mart: The High Cost of Low Price", that details some of Wal-mart's business practices and the impact of those practices both here and abroad. This link cites stats and information sources used in the film:

An article today (11/14)... Although Wal-Mart still insures less than half of its 1.4 million employees, they have made some efforts to reduce coverage costs and cover more employees.

I'm more concerned about the oil companies making record profits. Funny how this worked out. I'm wondering since we are in Iraq for Oil, and we supposedly have all that oil, why are we (Americans) paying over $3 a gallon now, I thought this is why we went to Iraq in the first place right???

If the Government sees a threat in WalMart, they will make it divide like they did to Bill Gates and Microsoft

Walmart has smart business practice, congrats to them, its capitalism at its best for the owners.
Our Economy is going down the tube, because we waste our money on the military instead on our future. All the next president has to do, cut the military down to size and we will be fine.

wow I'm new here, but if the falling dollar leads to inflation that will reduce the worth of your mortgages in the long run,and walmart is simply a non-union business that the media hates.

The Bush economy is the most serious issue that's faced our country since the depression. I'm not sure the US can stand another year of the Bush cabal.

That's part of the reason why. Americans are buying cheap goods made abroad thus adding to the trade deficit. Buying power is decreased these days, people may be buying small ticket items, but not the larger ticket items like appliances.
