To omit is to exclude someone or something, whether or not it was intentional or was done forgetfully.
You'd probably see the word on some types of online tests. There'd the simple categories of right, wrong, and omitted. Omitted obviously being the questions that you seemed to not answer on purpose/ intentionally or the ones you seemed to accidentally skim over/ forgot to go back and answer.
Hopefully over these past 6 years, you learned the word without having to read my definition.

It means left out. If an ingredient was omitted from a recipe, the entire taste of the recipe would be different. It does not mean it is optional or substituted but completely left out of the combination.
