I agree with the person with symbols for his name but in addition (and to give a concrete symbol to explain), you can look at all beings as individual strands of silk of a big intricate spiderweb. Any change you make is going to impact the rest of the web - maybe in a small way, maybe in a huge way. A death could be holding a lot of other strands together and could cause a huge void; someone else's death could be maybe only attached at a couple spots and causes a smaller void. But you never really know in advance how your changes will affect the rest of the web. (Nor can you control it - you just do your best and give up control over the uncontrollable.)
There are lots of other concrete ways to look at the interconnection - like the game where you remove pick up sticks that are holding marbles in a tube. One change might move things a little; another might cause the whole thing to crash down.
But the ultimate reason for this is what other people have basically said - we don't have the physical ability to see that we're all the same so we delude ourselves into thinking we're different. Just a delusion...or illusion...

God is an idea. We are all connected by the thing you can not describe but sense in some way.
On a purely physical level, the only thing making you believe that you are separate from anything else is your inability to see microscopically. After a certain point of visibility there really isn't anything between anything else as everything is interacting with everything else through vibration. Sound is vibration in the air, light is vibration of energy, etc.
Beyond that we have no way of knowing what we are and what the thing is that distinguishes us that are walking and talking from a corpse that is not. In that way we are connected through experience.
There is only one substance and human beings have been trying to name it for ever. Some have tried ambiguous names like Tao or Ohm and others have use the name God. The problem is that they are all just symbols for something we have no way of describing with a symbol but all know we are a part of. In that way we are connected.

Stories handed down from generation to generation and through the various migrations of humanity are a part of all of us at our very root being. We're not conscious of this, but it's how deja vu and other similar phenomenon are explained. We have this commonality of spirit that binds us together. PEACE!

We are connected because we are human, with the same basic needs and similar wants and interests. You and I are connected because we both seek answers as well as a desire to share our knowledge.

We are connected in spirit because we believe in a greater power than ourselves.

I think we're all connected as one population as the human race.
Or in scientific terms, we could all be desended from the same microscopic oraginism.
