Black pants with heels/black boots and either a blouse or a fitted thin sweater. I personally would stay away from reds, I think it is very cliche for a holiday party. But a dark purple or shades of beige or brown would look very nice. OR if you have a black longish skirt (just below the knee) I would wear that with a fitted turtleneck sweater with tall boots(if you have some). That always looks chic. Top could be whatever color but personally, I would wear either black pants or a black skirt. Also, 5:30 isnt that early that you cant wear black. It is very chic and can go with any color top. I need to find somthing to wear for our holiday party now...

First of all, what business are you in? First impressions mean alot so try to have your hair and makeup done. Most lawyers and judges spend alot of money on quality clothing, so look in your wardrobe and find something classic but that shows the quality of the piece, because it really doesn't matter what you choose as long as it fits you properly, is clean, and makes you feel like a million bucks. Has anyone ever given you a compliment on any of your outfits? If so, go with that!!

i would wear a knee length skirt (pencil or a-line depending on your body shape), matching jacket if you have one, then do a nice silk colorfult shell or blouse underneath. matching heels.
that way you are business like for the lawyears, but still festive. I think a cocktail dress would be too much for that time of day. it is dinner not a cocktail party.
see also some outfits from Banana Republics site.

Do not wear a little black dress, that is tip number one. I think it would be best if you wore a nice black skirt that could come from your suit if you wear one during the day. Then bring a little brighter colored collared shirt or blouse with you and wear that on top. This way you look fun but still corporate. If you have a shinnier top that is still appropriate, that might work well since it is a holiday party.

wear a cute black dress that hits right below the knee(NOT ABOVE!!) the neckline should be high like the square shape, and sleveless, and you could either wear high heels in black or black boots with black pantyhose and a cute red or white sweater, like a button up cardigan or something if you get cold, even a black blazer jacket from one of your suits would be really cute. Hope your the most fashionable one there!!!

I would wear a pretty dresss that is either red, black, or silver since it's a holiday themed party. I wouldn't wear anything TOOOO revealing but a little sex appeal isn't bad if you have the body for it.

A nice black coctail dress that is simple but still classy. I would go with a dress that is knee length, nothing shorter or longer and low on the accessories, maybe a strand of pearls with pearl earings.
