if you interrupted a bios flash your motherboard is gone without a new bios chip.
it was still running because bios is read only on startup so the next time it started up the computer couldn't read the information

if the bios is corrupted and the computer won't start you will need to just buy a new motherboard.

there is a way to reset - but may or may not work- there is a jumper on your motherboard CMOS reset pins - and you make contact between the pins and it resets to default but be careful not to ruin anything inside your computer if you attempt and gather more information from asus website.

this could have been coincidental with another problem though.

just have someone take a look at it if you can.

Flashing the BIOS can be dangerous procedure in that the process can not be interrupted. If you suffer a power failure or system shut down of any kind the BIOS will be destroyed. If this is the case you can do one of two things. 1. try to obtain a replacement BIOS chip. 2. Replace the motherboard.

The second choice is the easiest, and in many cases, the cheapest. If you can find a direct replacement board all that you should need to do is remove the old board and install the new one. The drivers would already be installed on your hard drive so it should fire up with no problems. If you can't find the same board that you now have then you will need to find a borad that will support the cpu and the memory that you have, etc.

When attempting to boot up the system, does or did it once say

"Press Alt+F2 for Awdflash utility" ?

If it did, just copy the BIOS image to flash, the .bin file, and ONLY the BIOS to replace with to a blank floppy diskette, and
hit Alt+F2 while booting.

If system wont boot to bios so you can select boot device like floppy or HDD or whatever, you destroyed BIOS.
Only solution now is buy new bios chip from ASUS, they VERY slow to answer, need send 10 emails before they pay attention to you, then you lucky to get BIOS chip, at price too high. Can buy new MB on EBay for less than BIO chip. Remember, if cannot boot BIOS to normal floppy or HDD, then you ruined BIOS in bad attempt to try to update. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
