Why do people say the following a lot more than they used to :
1) Thank you so much (usually said by females )
2) ....and such (at the end of a sentence, apparently similar to "etc")
3) random ( used as a hodge-podge adjective for almost anything)
4) ...or whatever (used at the end of a sentence, apparently aimlessly). For example: "I went to the store today, or whatever"
5) "OK, so..." (used to start off a sentence).

Ok, so, like, thank you so much for any random help and such that you can provide for me, or whatever.

Okay, so I do numbers 1 and 3 and sometimes 4 (although not so aimlessly as you suggest), and I have no idea why. Something to do with language styles changing, just as other styles change.

In Jane Austen's books, ill-educated people say "but, however" instead of using just one of the words. I imagine that to be the same sort of casual language fad, only 200 years ago.
