I'm 19, (Sydney, Australia) and have had no experience in dancing, and want to start dancing to help support my acting career, but I also really want to be really good at dancing (late start I know but I’m determined), So far I’m liking the look of jazz, contemporary and hip hop and funk doesn't sound bad either, but what’s the best style to do when your making that very first step?

Well iv bin dancing most of my life. I started with ballet when i was 2. SO id start with a beginners class in that. Then also take jazz. After getting good in those two sections Hip-Hop is tons of fun. Modern is cool to. If you really having trouble do jazzercise and gymnastics. (its harder than it looks) Have fun!!xoxoxo

I think for your purposes, a jazz class would be the best to start with. It'll be a fun class, and you'll learn the basics. It also won't be super strict or technical, like a ballet class would be. It will give you a good base for other types of dance.
Good luck!!

I think ballet because in ballet you learn the basic moves, and trust me they help a lot in the other forms of dance! Plus I think it's really fun! Well good luck!

jazz is pretty simple. You might enjoy Ceroc as well which is a mix of salsa and jive. Have fun dancing!

my dance teacher ( who was on broadway ) insists that you need ballet as your basic beginner dance class.
and i wasnt allowed to take jazz without taking a ballet class also.

making that very first step?

Two Step.

Then the Box Step.

You will use these over and over as you progress, without even realizing it.
