Nothing wrong with Ryan Braun's offensive stats but I saw him play 3B a lot being in the NL Central playing against the Cardinals, he really struggled. Tulowitzki is more of an all-around player and a great defensive player at the most important position in the field. Troy Tulowitzki was robbed of the NL Rookie of the Year award.

well i do think you are the minority but i do agree that defense is more impressive, generally
i think the season braun put up was amazing, and though his d wasnt tulowitzki good, it was still pretty good, i think he shoulda been the mvp
there is, however way too much focus on power in todays game, while it is true that you need a mixture that includes power to win a world series, you can still have a very sucessful team with alomost no long balls (angels and dodgers and padres this past season) if i were an mlb manager i would be much happier to see my team turn 2-3 double plays or get 1-2 outfield assists in a game then if they hit even 1 home run, home runs can erase large deficits, but if you play great d, your chances of falling into those deficits goes way down

I've never been to a one run ballgame, I haven't been to many games (maybe 10), but it's still pathetic I've never been to one. People only care about the long ball now. You never see a suicide squeeze or a hitter like Alex Rodriguez bunt when the fielders are playing back, all people care about is the homer. I love seeing great defense, it makes for a competitive game.

On Tulowitzki winning the RoY, it could have gone either and I'd be happy, and I am. But, I think Braun deserved it. His offensive numbers were just too damn good, if he would have played a full season he'd be an MVP candidate. Tulowitzki got robbed for the Gold Glove though.

I wouldn't say you're totally on your own since I love the defensive plays as well......but home runs and big offensive plays are what make the highlights for most people. As far as Tulowitzki and Braun are concerned, I think it was a toss up. Both had a great years. Braun had the edge offensively while Tulowitzki had the edge on defense. Either way, they both should have great careers.

It was a close race for NL rookie of the year and Braun 324-34-97 nudged out Tulowitzki 291-24-99. You have to remember that it is not always about the numbers and Braun was learning a new position as well. It was a good choice and well deserved. I see that Chipmaker is picking Rollins over Holliday for National League MVP and we might have to have a little side bet on that one.

I agree with you that Tulowitzki should have gotten it instead of Braun. He just played all around better than Braun. But I enjoy watching home runs, as much as defensive plays. There is nothing I don't like about baseball. :)

Geez, if the Rockies fans are upset over Tulowitzki not winning the NL ROY, they're going to go thermonuclear when Rollins takes the NL MVP over Holliday. Doubly denied and get swept from the Series? Gonna be a hard winter in Denver fandom, you betcha.

History shows that attendance goes up when offense goes up. MLB isn't about to let 1960s conditions dominate again.

In this case, Tulowitzki was robbed .The writers are THE WORST at awards and Hall voting. How'd they GET the job, anyway. If I had their jobs, I'd've been fired 40 years ago if I were half as bad.

I grew up in the 1960s and that was classic basebal.. 1-0 games. Great pitching and defense galore. Steal a base. But the ball. It was good baseball. Edge of the seat stuff.

Unfortunately you probably are. One of my favorite parts of Baseball Tonight is the Web Gems because lots of players seem to be able to hit long balls but to come up with a really sweet defensive play takes much more skill and effort.

I love defense. I also love a good pitchers dual and shutouts. But "chicks dig the long ball" as they say, so we real baseball fans are in the majority.

What really annoys me is when you are at a game and someone hits a high pop up and everyone starts to cheer cause those dumb----- think its a home run.
