And exactly how is this new tech being used ?
CCTV is swell - if - there is someone watching 24/7 so that
realtime action can be taken if it's needed.
BS.
Someone MIGHT be looking at 5 - 10 screens at a time, but at $7.50 an hour, don't hold your breath. If they are reviewed daily or weekly, what possible good are they when needed ?
Security isn't up to anyone other than YOU.

Camera's do not catch criminals.
And I do want privacy, yes.
And when you think about it, so do you.
If not, could you put up a webcam in your home where you eat? Why not, do you have anything to hide?
How about the bedroom? I'd like to see that. Surely you have nothing to hide. And if someone comes in and kidnaps you, dozens of watching people will call the police. You will feel so much safer.
People need privacy. It's a psychological need.

the privacy advocates issue is that it has the potential to be abused,
to live with a false sense of security, that the security cameras provide.
In the wrong hands this can be abused.
It is wise to remember history when heading into the future.

I am fine with them in most places - i mean when you go shopping you KNOW that the stores have security cameras, I dont mind them in parking lots either. The only place I would have a problem with cameras would be in private places, where I was either doing something that shoudl be private or maybe having a private conversation.

Considering the physical un-healthfulness of the American majority...many thanks to our FDA/AMA wonders, and the general public ignorance of how to care for themselves...this is what we have come to.
I, personally, and truly, believe that if the above were not true, and We the People took a stronger & more united stand, with mindful intent, to care for our own neighborhoods & country, that the need to forfeit our freedoms would not exist...we would always be at the ready to retain & gain from each & every one of them.
If our governing systems, and the leaders of them, were those of wisdom, ethics, and aimed at our original ideals, I certainly would not mind such invasiveness because I could trust that it would be in the best interests of our Whole...but this is hardly the case. This "security" system is not about over-filling our jails with "bad guys", since many of those cameras work on time intervals, many of the tapes are re-used over & over again, or they are not maintained to work well at all. Unless a clear face shot or vehicle license is taken, they are useless...and don't you think those really bad boys have figured this out when the first camera was installed??? This is another defraction of public awareness...another expenditure that is placed upon the consumer, another excuse for the public not to get their own butts in gear.
We have to go back to our ideals and re-create...cure the source of the dis-ease, not play with the symptoms. This would take revamping our economics so that a solid parent is on the homefront...being more involved in our communities to take down serious abusers of our women & children...it would take opening the Pandora's box of our governing systems so that our foods & natural resources are cleaned up & healthful again, our life protector's (police & firefolks) are paid what they are worth to us, judicial loopholes scratched from the books--back to the original Constitution of ideals & more immediate punishments for those who choose to ignore our laws--no more courtroom lawyer games...it would take revamping our education processes to include greater stealth of body, mind, & spirit, as well as a basic training program to provide & strengthen defensive capabilities...these are the means to a Whole nation, a free country...that which we are supposed to be exampling to this world of ours.
Vote more wisely this coming year, my Dears...go with the Changes and not against them (for a change!) Vote for those with wisdom & grander vision of us...care not of their affiliations but of their intent...We CAN be the light of this Earth--We CAN example freedom & strength! Good Journey to us all !!!

Public places are just that...public. Why would anyone ever feel that they have or should have any sense of privacy in a public area. Now, in public places where there is a semblance of privacy, (i.e. - public bathrooms, dressing rooms), then our personal privacy should outweigh any type of security measure.

I usually give them the high sign and a funny gesture to make them laugh. And don't worry, the VAST MAJORITY of those cameras don't tape anything at all. The businesses are too cheap to pay for the real thing, or tapes, or people to monitor them.

I think that although it could be helpfull in some instances the majority of us don't need to be watched all the time. It creeps me out that there are cameras watching the stop lights now.

i just do not want those who cry privacy to wonder why we weren't able to stop a group of bombers, if only we had cameras. they want to stop airline bombings but they do not want the prime suspects patted down because it is a violation of their rights. put a camera on every corner and maybe the killing, raping, robbing and beating of innocents will decrease. lets stop protecting the criminal.

I am much more concerned about the credit card companies and cell phone companies tracking and profiling me for *their* monetary gain than I am about the police monitoring me for society's safety.
