If you are adopted or an adoptee please tell me??? How long did it take you to find your birth parents? What made you want to persue this supposidly long drawn out ordeal?? Any suggestions to how to get started?? I am torn between filling out the papers but im not sure if this is the right thing at my middle age..I found out late in life and really dont have too much info on my birth parents..my adopted mom..my mom i know of no other passed recently and no one seems to be talking about the adoption??? Why are people like that?? So unhelpful when it comes to family secrecy? HELP??

I was adopted. I have always wondered who my birth parents were but never persued finding out. Mainly because my *mom* (adoptive) didn't really want me to. She never came right out and said, don't do it, but I could always tell that it would hurt her if I did.
When I was pregnant with my first child, I really felt the urge to find out my family history. My dad was supportive and said he would help me, but like I said, I never did go through with it.
I do know that there was a national registry set up, they passed the law stating it was legal to do this in like 1985. Theres a link below and I'm not sure if this is the same one I heard about back then, but from what I can see, its very similiar.
You have to print off some forms, fill them out and send them in, and if either of your birth parents have done the same, they match you up and contact you.
I wish you the best of luck. I've known since I was very young...and have just always been told that most kids just are born....but I was extra special, because not only was I born....but then I was handpicked - so that makes me EXTRA special...LOL
Btw...my brother (not biological) was adopted too....and three of our childhood friends growing up were adopted as well....that was very strange, that all four of us, living in a VERY small town, were all adopted and grew up together......

each and each usa has their very own rules/rules/rules while it includes international adoption. i'd first start up with determining which usa you opt for for to undertake from and notice what their rules are. you need to be very careful which you are not getting scammed - that's why i've got heard maximum do require an organization that might actually assist you thru. My cousin observed 2 toddlers from Guatamala - and the technique went easily - uncertain if there replaced into an age requirement or no longer.

I was adopted...I never wanted to find my birth parents..my brother did, and it hurt my mother's feelings, but he was angry..she told me she wishes I would, she'd go with me, but I never did...go online to get started, they have info..my adoption was always talked about and made as so natural, that it was just a fact for me, and not an issue...
