ok, so i am moving out pretty soon and getting my own apartment, rent where i live is pretty decent, i can get a place for about $550... so how much should i save? i know i need money for a deposit, down payments for like electricity and stuff, and i need extra money to buy some furniture and stuff... am i missing anything? how much is good to save so that i dont have to worry about being broke?

i would have enough for everything you mentioned and then at least 2 months rent in reserve. there is a lot of expense in moving whether for the 1st time or the 10th time.

I don't know if you're living with your folks or how much you make, so I'm making some assumptions here.

I think you're living with your folks, at least that's how I read your post. It also seems to be your first time away from home.

If that's the case, try looking for someone that is looking for a roommate in your area on Craigslist or something. This way, you don't have to worry about too much furniture, you cut your rent down by half of what you were going to pay, and more importantly, you're away from home.

Fees for cable
Thrift store furniture
Might want to cook and eat - food and untinsels
make you list and figure what you want
