Firstly i would say a nintendo Wii, you all seem to like a different sort of game, there all availible on the Wii and with the added fun of playing them Wii style even........better. But it's so hard to get hold of a Nintendo Wii now it might just be worth getting a different console.

The next one i would reccomend would be the PS3 it is for more serious games at the minute, but soon after christmas there will be alot more games availible for it that would suit all the family, puzzle, adventure, sports and action. just have to wait. best PS3 games http://uk.gamespot.com/games.html?type=top_rated&platform=1028&page_type=games&tag=subnav;top_games
If you don't want to wait for the games to be released your best choice would be the XboX360 it already has a vast Library of games to have all of you entertained for hours on end.

Saying that, you might have a few arguments in your house over who's turn it is next. lol. unlucky for you.
Hope I helped you out.

I have an Xbox 360 and I love it. Guitar Hero 3 is a great game for the family.
However, the best choice of a system for a family of varying ages like yours is the Wii. It's not even close. The Wii has games that are fun for 5 year olds through 80 year olds. It's got sports games like Tiger Woods and Madden, it's got Mario and Zelda games, it's got tons of fun games made for much younger audiences and it's the easist to set up and get going. For a family, the Wii is the easy choice, and that's coming from an Xbox 360 owner.
The Wii.

With those requirements? The Wii is your ONLY real choice.
The PS3 hasn't really kicked off yet. The XBOX360 is almost all sports and first person shooters. But the Wii is the most family friendly and the only source of Zelda.
There are some legitimate fears that the Wii will die off a bit when the novelty of its control scheme wears off, but there will be plenty of games out by then. It is the least powerful of the three next-gen counsels by a LONG way, and all it can do is play games, it has no DVD or Blue-Ray abilities.

For a family I would recommend the Wii as it has something for everyone on that age and games such as Wii play and Warioware are easy for young children to play (My nephew just turned 6 and neice is 3 and they love them) Also they are great fun for the adults. My mum and Dad have even had a go and they have very little experience in console gaming.

Wii is fun and offers the broadest variety of games. XBox and PS have excellent graphics capacity, which is why their sticker price is so high, but it sounds like your family is made up mostly of casual gamers who don't need amazing graphics, and will enjoy the Wii.
Zelda would be a good choice (both the most recent, Twilight Princess, and the Game Cube's Windwaker, which is also compatible and more cartoonish and kid-friendly), as would all of the Wii Sports games.

The Wii, though it doesn't have the graphics power like the PS3 and Xbox 360, it has lots of interactive games the whole family can get into and enjoy!

we have ps2 & 3, PC, & Wii. Wii is great all round family fun, and also great fun for adults if youve had a few friends round and had a couple o glasses of wine! My daughter has DS and loves it for cutie games like nintendogs and animal crossing. For PS 2 - Buzz the music quiz is really good fun, but overall the Wii wins.

if you like zelda then you have to get the wii, cause zelda is nintendo licensed, not microsoft so get the wii, cause there are millions of age appropriate games for your boys, like some carnival game, there is a golf game for your husband, over all, get the wii. it is $250.
