Can a desktop computer monitor be used wirelessly

There are wireless projectors. I have not heard of a wireless monitor. However, there are adapters that are designed to allow regular projectors to be used wirelessly.

So the answer is yes.

However, there is a distinct problem. Compare a DVI cable to a wireless link. A DVI cable has three video wires, each carrying up to 165 Mpixels/second at 8 bits + 2 bit encoding. So that is 1.65 Gbit*3 or about 5 Gbit total.

Wireless N standard allows up to about 250 Mbit, requiring a compression ratio of 20:1.

Any video across a wireless link is going to have problems if anything changes rapidly.

Ultra wideband and W-USB provide higher bandwidth, but are not really available yet.

No. Although you can use desktop sharing software such as VNC to view the desktop of one machine on the monitor of another over a wireless LAN.
