What attracts ladybugs inside your house ? How do you get rid of them?

We have thousands that come inside this time of year . They mostly go to our bedroom . We have tried some flying insect spray but that did not work. We are now using a shop vac. I am not exaggerating about the thousands . We have lived here three years and every year we go through this . Does anyone know if there could be a health issue with this ?

The lady bugs entering your home are the dreaded Asian Lady bug that was introduced quite a while ago to help the European lady bug with their job. However, it had been discovered that the Asian lady bug has many traits that are undesirable and the only thing they have in common with their European cousins is the fact they eat aphids. Asian lady bugs move indoors for the winter and leave their nasty yellowness everywhere making the area reek of old gym shoes. They are killing off the European lady bug, and they bite to boot. Vacuuming is the best way to get rid of them.
There is a health issue associated with the Asian lady bug and that is that people with asthma can have a reaction to the nasty yellowness. They can have the same reaction with the European lady bug too, but the difference is that the European lady bug does not move indoors. Hope this helps.

these are probably not ladybugs per se but japanese lady beattles , they are a big pain , and get into your home and come in by the dozens, hundreds, or even thousands in some instances. this happens during the fall if you have a house that is light in color or have wooden siding.

they are trying to find a warm safe place to hibernate, like the ladybug beattle the japanese lady beattle is harmless and beneficial to the enviroment.

you will have to get ladybug traps and certain chemical barriers which you can find at local hardware stores such as lowes , home depot , or ace.

this can happen year after year after year. and will continue to do so, only thing that can stop it is constant spraying of chemical barriers or sealing all windows and doors to prevent them from crawling in

We have this problem too. My home is about a 100 years old and I have found that the lady bugs come in through the spaces where the weights are located in the sides of the windows. Lady bugs are not harmful, although probably annoying in large numbers. They are trying to find a warmer environment since the weather is changing. I gather them up and put them on my indoor plants. Lady bugs eat harmful insects off of other plants. Many gardening catalogs sell lady bugs by the box! Sealing up any open spaces around windows and window air conditioning units is the best way to prevent them from getting inside. You could use a bug bomb, but this will just kill what is inside and not stop new bugs from getting in. The bugs are definitely not harmful, just maybe annoying! Lady bug, Lady bug, fly away home.....;)

they are a mess and make your home look so dirty.. i found a opening that they were coming in at.. the great handyman before me, cut a hole in the window ledge the size of a quarter, 2 stick a extention cord through, 2 have elec. power outside 4 water pump.. didn't seal the hole around the cord.. this might help others, i took a oleo top and cut out a disk, cut a line leading 2 the middle and cut a hole out of center... glued the home made disk in place and went on bug patrol armed with a fly swatter, till every last one was dead.. because most of the bugs are in your bedroom, thats the place 2 start looking 4 how they are getting in.. on the outside, seal all around your windows.. umm whispers, ladybugs love terrmites and misquitoes.. bummer eh ~ something else i did, was buy all purpose amonia from the dollar store and sprayed the outside windows, thinking those stinky bugs must be leaving a trail 4 family members : ) i think it helped...

i don`t think theres an `health issue`.
but ladybirds can bite and extrude a vile smelling liquid.
they have come indoors to hibernate.
the best and cleanest way to remove them is to use a vacum cleaner.
empty bag well away from your house
most will survive
