Some of our friends on this site need help, you need a car, Isotope needs help, Just me would like a place of her own and their are others who also need help, i would do it, then 20% for American Red Cross because they touch peoples lives in a positive way. Repair the starter on my car and maybe move my home and my friends home to land that we own. I would give Marie a vacation of a lifetime because she has never had a vacation. Get Brian speech therapy so that he is better understood (CP and stroke). If there is a balance left, I would put it into a high yield, interest bearing account

First, I think you would have to ask 10,000,000 people to get $1 million dollars. Only about 10% would give you a dollar. I would take care of myself and family first - pay off all my debt and give my kids and parents the maximum allowed in a year. Then I would match that amount and give it to charities that I think are doing good work: the ones that get at least 80% of the donated funds to the intended recipients and spend very little on administrative costs. If anything was left,( I think I would still have over half a million) I would invest it so I could continue to care for myself and give to others.
Edit: I think I must be much more selfish than Southern Comfort. But self-sufficiency is one of my values. The agencies I would donate to are the kind that help people help themselves, like Habitat for Humanity and Heifer International.

I think I would build that hotel type home for all my older and/or disabled friends and folks who just need a little help... so that we would never have to worry about the necessities of life anymore... and we could all care for one another, or, just stay isolated if we preferred. We would have a driver to take us to and fro.. At least I would know that everyone was safe, warm, had full belly's, and were not out on the road alone! We would have beautiful southern porches, library's, lounges, a formal dinning room and an eat in kitchen (which is where we usually end up!) craft rooms, a huge garage workshop...

I know... DREAM ON!
So much for the Yacht!

Oh dear. I was going to say, buy several pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes, but a nice apartment, sort out my parents' debts, and bring the entire family on a holiday. Some of these answers (esp. Southern Comfort's) have made me realise I really, really need to reassess my priorities!

I'd give 10% to the church first. Then I'd help my family and friends who need it. I'd donate some to charities I believe in, esp my local Humane Society that have helped me so much-I'd build them a much needed shelter. If there is enough left I'd get a ranch with land and have a B&B for folks who need a vacation and can't afford it to come to and a santuary for unwanted animals.

Set up a trust that would send my Mother a monthly allowance. She couldn't squander too much and I'd be sure she had heat, lights etc. She couldn't take care of lazy foolish drug dependant people.
The rest I'd invest and think about it before I began disbursing it. I'd like to get you some transportation, tags, taxes etc. So you can get to the library whenever you'd like.
Help Just Me get a flat alone. Isotope a lawyer to get that disability kicked in...I'd have to really think it over.

I'd make sure my kids were ok and had a little nest egg. Set up accounts for my grandchildren. I'd donate some to deserving charities and then I'd pay off some bills. I'd hold back enough for a little travel.

Assuming I get the entire million...

Set up a trust fund for disabled veterans programs to help get jobs, because it is hard for us to find employment!

My dream would be to fully support a family, rent, food, clothes, daycare, schooling etc while the parents went to trade or reg school to learn to support them selves. this might take up to 4 years if they went to college, but it would be worth every penny to get and keep them off the street..they would become a contributer to society ..I really wish I could afford to do this..

Pay the legal fees and restitution for running an illegal scam. Would end up destitute and enjoying the county's (or Federal) free room and board.
