It could be a lot of things.
If you've got dial up though you'll have to wait a long time to download any videos so you probably shouldn't bother with it (pausing and waiting a few hours before you resume probably isn't something you'll want to be doing a lot, especially since you won't have any bandwidth left for other things while you wait).

You have a Laptop, go spend 60 bucks on a Wi-Fi router and get wireless internet (free >=) ) and then you'll have 50mbs download speeds.

No, a slow connection will just stream. check that u have software which can play that type of file.
