Have all you seniors out there been warned that prisoners in jail, now have access to computer rooms. That nice person, that has been e mailing you, may have been sent to jail for aggravated robbery and assault and may be trying to find out where you are located, so when he is released he can rob you. That nice teenager with the sad story may not be a teen at all. My daughter and son keep warning me about this.
And some prisons have work programs, that inmates are enrolled in, where you order things for your home, and they can easily find out your address.

Stella, I wish the US would have spots on TV like that. I have a 13 year old Grandson and his parents will not let him on the computer, unless he is doing homework assignments, afraid some pedo. will start talking to him. It is a shame, the computer can be used for such good, shame it is just not safe for teens.

Yes, I've heard about this. You never know who you are talking to on the Internet. In the absence of any restrictions on this kind of activity, I guess we all just have to be careful not to reveal too much about our private details to strangers.
Here in Australia (maybe you have this too) we have a series of community TV announcements, which show paedophiles at work on the Internet...you hear two adolescent kids "talking" on instant messenger, and then you see that one kid is really a kid, and the other is a man in his 50's, "grooming" the child, asking all sorts of personal questions. It really is frightening to think of this sort of thing happening to our young children.

For just that reason you should not open e-mail from someone you do not know. Just click it and Hit Spam. BYE-BYE. Also put your phone number on the "DO NOT CALL LIST" then you will not get telemarketers phone calls. Do not give out personal information to anyone on the phone, no matter who they tell you they are. If it is sincere, ask them to send you a letter. Do not even give them your address, if it is your bank, CC. Company or whatever, then they already have that information. Consumer Fraud is becoming rampant.

nicely, this seems to be bothering you, so ensure to concentration on it - in spite of the undeniable fact that i might think of to no longer this guy at once. How close is your buddy? i might evaluate telling her. the only problem there is that she could be extremely unhappy with you for showing her this. you incredibly only ought to ask your self what's greater substantial to you, might you fairly she knew what replaced into happening and in all probability did no longer seek advice from you or might you fairly ignoring his advances and staying in close touch together with her, understanding that he could be untrue to her? If I have been you, i might save ignoring him. That e mail you despatched made him extremely irritable and who's commonly used with what he might say/do in case you disillusioned him any further? If he does develop into too uncomfortable or is asking you steadily or forcing himself upon you, determine you tell somebody, even possibly the government - your protection is substantial! lower back, if it have been me, i might forget approximately approximately him and then if it keeps taking place tell the buddy. despite the fact that, if he's doing it to three pals, then possibly get some pals to point it to her - in spite of the undeniable fact that no longer in a manner that makes her experience as though she is being attacked by using you all. it is the main suitable suggestion i'm going to offer. good luck!

the US has shows/programs much like the one Stella described.....Scott Hansen hosts one....I think it's called Predator.
Those in jail programs where inmates serve as customer service reps NEVER see the encrypted information, or so it has been reported.
Now online chat rooms, singles sites, MySpace, FaceBook etc. do pose a potential danger in that you never know who you are really 'talking' to...same as here!
And all prisoners do NOT have access to computers...in fact few do.

Remember, they don't have to be in prison to scam and harm you. Some of the biggest crooks are walking the streets. Be careful of everyone if you don't know them (and some, even if you do know them). After all, who is making the news.........school teachers/coaches who molest; police officers who sexually abuse; politicians who molest; parents who kill their own children; grown children who scam their elderly parents!!! It's a sad world out there. Can't trust anyone!
PS: I use to work in a prison (substance abuse counselor). Sometimes, I trusted some of them more than the people who walked the streets.

I did not know that!! I guess we're fair game to prisoners!! They should be on a chain gang building roads or picking up trash to offset taxes!! What a shame!!

Don't seem entirely right that we can lock them up but can't keep them shut down. Seems like maybe they haven't been removed from society after all.
