Your body does. Pregnancy induces the body to release a myriad of hormones, one of which, once it reaches a certain level, induces labor. That's why multiples are often born prematurely, with more babies, the higher the hormone levels.

The body of the baby when finished developing releases hormones which triggers your body to release hormones that start labor.

Probably all of the above. The baby has outgrown its home in the uterus. Your body is uncomfortable and taxed to the limit. There may be physical changes in blood chemistry that tell your body the baby is ready and you are ready to deliver. No matter what it is, its definitely unpredictable and always a miracle!

Your body, the baby, same thing when you are pregnant in my eyes. Baby takes over everything and lets your body know when he/she is ready to come out.

The baby releases proteins which trigger the onset of labor when the baby's lungs have developed.

Technically, yes. The baby is who sends the hormones to trigger labor. Sometimes it takes longer...baby might be comfy in there.

Here is what "they" have so far:

The mom releases Oxytosin and the baby releases a hormone too. It has to be at the SAME time, and this is what 'triggers' labor.

Of course, the baby knows when he's done cooking LOL, unless a medical condition comes up and your Dr considers a c-section is better for your health and the baby's. In the end it isn't up to you! how unfair is that after you are the one pg for 9 months? LOL

when your body is ready to let the little one out i think is how it works. when your body is ready, it releases the hormone into your body to start labor.

my little one would start labor but would then stop it. it was a fun game he liked to play.
