IS THERE ANY ONE OUT THERE WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL MAKE A 1998 DODGE RAM 2500 WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANNY AND A CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL TO GET ALL JUMPY WHEN DRIVING. (EXAMPLE) I WOULD BE DRIVING DOING ANY WHERE ABOUT 50 TO 70 MPH AND YOU WILL SEE THE TAC DROP 200 TO 500 RPM'S AND YOU ALSO CAN FEEL AND HEAR IT.IT HAS NEW OIL AND AIR FILTER.
IF ANYONE WHO HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAS FIXED IT OR WHO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
THANKS

try changing the fuel filter on it,on diesels you have to change the filter a lot more often than on gas engines,id also look at my maintenance records and see when the last time i had the transmission serviced,it could just need the fluid and filter changed on it,that will sometimes cause this to happen, you might also want to have this one scanned and see if there are any trouble codes on it,that may help in repairing it,good luck on it.

You can ask a dodge dealer if that option was offered for that year (06)and I know for sure it was available the second year the cummings was offered in a Dodge truck short bed because a Red and black short single cab was sold to a welder at the shop I worked at in Whitter Ca. But I would not twin turbo it. A dodge tranny, even the new models would not handle the torque and cramming 2 turbos on a 6 cylinder is way to expensive. Try a Banks stage 3 kit, it will give you more than you need and you may have to look into getting a Allison trans and kit for the Cummings after you denigrate your third or fourth dodge trans

sounds like it is gear hunting. there was a service bulletin out to reprogram the controller on those, there is also a wire that i have seen vibrate loose and cause that. if it is one of those two your looking at about 2 hours at a dealer. you may also be having trouble with the transfer or injector pump which is common too, there is a retro fit kit for the transfer pump on those that goes inside the tank, i am not sure if it applies to your model and both of those are expensive
