Every tattoo shop that I've ever seen has had a minimum price. My tattoo artists charges AT LEAST $40 for any tattoo. No matter how small. And it all depends where you go. I got my first tattoo at the beach and it cost me $80, then I got a much larger one in my hometown and it only cost me $60. I don't think I would pay much more than $80 for a simple tattoo like you've described. I have large angel wings on my back and I was charged $140 and the tattoo artist was well known.

I don't where Ame_Dime is getting tattooed, but if you are only paying $15 dollars for a tattoo....chances are, the tattoo sucks!

Depends where abouts you go. On average a basic word tattoo without much datail is unlikely to be much more than $80.

Sometimes the big name tattoo shops charge more because of thier name but on average $80 is fair.

Where I go, the minimum charge is £40. Big stuff is charged at around £60 per hour. The cost shouldn't influence your choice of studio, though - you do get what you pay for!

Employers are now banning potential employees with tattoos.

For the sake of your future, I would not do it.
