After all those answers you're getting, I'm sure you're now more unsure of the bible than before for asked the question.
I'd advise you to stick to being a Pakeha.

Older holy books have been distorted. Most start from a person connected to God. However over thousands of years these books get distorted.
People make new copies of the book and make mistakes and distort it. Also there is the problem of translating. You have to re-write the book. When you rewrite a book you write it from your own perspective.
Ultimately all religions lead to the same thing: Your connection to God.
Edit: Study the religions and see what concepts work for you. Remember: Just because one fact in a holy book is wrong, doesn't mean the whole book is trash!

In the English language it would be the King James
the newer versions have to change at least 15% of there content in order to not violate copyright laws and one of the biggest sins in the Christian Bible is to not change the word of God.
Change and translation are different though as good translation should offer the truest meaning and does not intentionally change the message being translated. The King James is the only version that has done this .

Because of language barriers I don't think there is a perfect version for all people. A bible preference is a personal thing. You should use the bible version that is easiest to read and understand for you. I have several versions, but I prefer the N.I.V. and the complete Jewish Bible, but that's just me.

The Interlinear Bible. Gives the origin Hebrew and Greek with a word for word translation. All other Bibles take some liberty in translating certain words and phrases.
