Why do you want to do loads of situps??

If you want to develop you abdominal muscles just do sets under load like you do other muscles.

Excessive sit-ups will strain your lower back and neck, burn you out and your abs will be flat - not a 6 pack.

I was once told by a guy who ran a Gym that after so many situps your back muscles take over and it does your abdomenal muscles no good at all - you can just end up straining you back.

Too many sit-ups are bad for the back. I suggest looking at Pilates to see the other possibilities for training and tightening the abdominal area.

Yes you could. You might pull your muscles. If you want to do alot of sit-ups then build on it gradually. Increase by 2 sit-ups everyday. That will make sure that you are not doing too much.
