Is masturbation a sin according to Hinduism?If it is,in which holy book is it mentioned so?

Yes it is a sin. People think that Hinduism is an anything goes joke, but in Hinduism it clearly says that anything pertaining to sensual pleasures are vices of materialism and need to be avoided.
If you read the Bahgavad Gita, you would know that Hinduism places just the same importance on morals, etiquette and a correct code of conduct as Islam and Christianity do. Our religion is not a hippy joke where people can behave like animals.
Devotees of hanuman are encouraged not to masturbate because it reduces masculinity and strength. In Hinduism, "pranyama" is known as the life force and sexual energy is pranayama. Masturbation reduces and weakens pranayama.

It is not a sin, but anything too much indulgence stops you archiving enlightment. Hindiusm show one should go through celibacy,intimacy and spirituality in appropriate stages of life to find balance. Find your balance and be your own judge.

it is not a sin however we should not do it just for pleasure, it should be done at a proper time with a proper person. god always forgivess. also there are many branches off of hinduism, its a very broad religion

u ll be surprised to find , we were most liberal form of society (by any imagination), (when people were still roaming around jungle (collecting food & woods ) , we were busy writing kamasutra, around 2500 years ago ...lol)....before muslims/christians missionaries invaded our country & imposed their rigid beliefs on our free society
