Re 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

Now I know my religion and I know that it was Joseph who was the descendant of David and not Mary. For Jesus to be descended of David he would have to be Joseph's son but that goes against Christian mythology. The Bible itself proves Jesus was not a divine being. Even the Old Testament said this messiah would be a descendant of David but Jesus is said to be born of a virgin. If Jesus was not Joseph's son then Joseph's line ended and there could be no savior. But to say your Jesus was born not by a virgin but by someone who got pregnant before marriage would go against beliefs. so what say you to this?

i went to a catholic school and know a lot of religion and they never said Mary was descended of David they only said it was Joseph.

I will never bow down to your deity. The reason I like to try to disprove everything is that people deserve to know the truth. The truth is important.

Wally - you said "The Lord promised He would establish the throne of David’s offspring forever." well Jesus is said to have had to children so hey i guess that's a false promise.

xenobyte72 - i am trying to cause trouble in a sense. try to force them to pick an option where instead of two things being true one is true and the other false therefore creating a contradiction. chipping away at religion. i find it fun to do so.

Jesus is also the descendant of David. In the Old Testament we read about the promise God made to David, the King of Israel. The Lord promised He would establish the throne of David’s offspring forever. Therefore, the Jews understood that when the Messiah came, he would be a descendant of David. No one could be the Savior if he wasn’t born in the line of David. Jesus is a descendant of David. When the angel Gabriel told Mary that she would give birth to a son, he said, "The Lord will give him the throne of his father David." The angel proclaimed that Jesus would be the fulfillment of the promises made by God to David. Jesus would be the Messiah. He is the one through whom God breaks the curse upon humanity and redeems his people.

All I can say is I'm well and truly gob smacked.
I like to think I am well up on all religions, even though I am atheist.
I dislike the idea of bible quotes because one can always be found to contradict another, so your question just leaves the door open for a quote in contradiction!
I await your answers with a great deal of interest.
One will be found which will leave the door open for the likes of myself to ask "Why the contradictions"?
Which when answered will prompt me to ask another question ad infinitum.
I am only just swayed into thinking that such a man as Jesus existed at all, not through any real historical proof , because I think that is split 50/50 for and against, Muslim think he did, the Jews think he did, as a Prophet to be respected, not as God or part of any 'Trinity'!
I enjoyed your question, I will no doubt not enjoy most of your answers!!

What exactly are you trying to prove? That he wasn't descended from David or that he didn't exist or that he wasn't a part of the Holy Trinity?

What bothers me is the end of the quotation about him being the Morning Star. Lucifer, a roman god representing Jupiter (I think) was known as the morning star.

All the same, your quotation came from the King James Bible and may have lost something in the translation from the original scriptures.

Are you trying to enlighten the world or make trouble?

In the original Hebrew, ( I am learning just so I can read the BIBLE in the original Hebrew) The linage in the book of Matthew is Mary's; linage. Her father was named Joseph, just like her husband, it was a very common name.
A person can marry someone with the same name as a parent, so don't start trying to say she married her dad, because that is not true.

The blood lines are mentions in Matthew and Luke. No one in those days ever challenged who Jesus was especially during the census.

Come on, examine the bible a bit more carefully. Jesus had fulfilled many prophecies including his birth and his title as a Nazarene.

Remember Joseph and Mary had come from the line of Judah which is also a prophercy.

maximum persons who comprehend some thing concerning the Jewish standpoint comprehend that Jesus truly did no longer fulfill the Jewish standards for a Messiah. that's in all possibility why, as quickly as the memories began making him right into a god, maximum converts have been Gentiles who knew little approximately Jewish custom. The gospels have been written for an purpose marketplace that would desire to be fooled into believing that he fulfilled the prophecies some Messiah, while all and sundry who examine the textual content textile in context in any respect is familiar with that many of the "Messianic prophecies" picked out by using Christian theologians have been truly approximately Israel or another ruler. Christianity comes from pagan recommendations approximately gods, no longer from Jewish recommendations.

I know what I know and I know Jesus is the Saviour of the world. He is the Son Of God and is sitting on His Throne at the right hand of His Father. Instead of just reading the Bible so you can disprove and try ..notice I said try....to plant doubt; why don't you ask Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Saviour. Have a true relationship with him and then tell me Jesus isn't what the Bible says he is!!!!!!

You are quite mistaken. BOTH Joseph and Mary are descendants of David. Their geneologies are recorded in scripture. Joseph is David's descendant thru his son Solomon. Mary is David's descendant thru his son Nathan (not to be confused with Nathan the prophet).

He was Joseph's son in the sense that he was married to Mary. My husband had a child before we married. She's now my child too. I'm responsible for her. If you take one you take them all!!!!
