You will be taking chances to take him out. At 6 weeks old he should still be with mom by rights (until 8 weeks old). At 6 weks he should have or be gettign his first shot. then every 3 weeks until 12 weeks, this is the time you would wnat to take him out. Even when you go to the vets before he gets all his boosters he should be in a crate and not allowed to get on the floor. ( worse place to pick up anything is at teh vets).
The best is to paper or pee pad train for now.
I would alos have him checked for worms as he should have been wormed along with litter mates and mom at 2,4,6,and 8 weeks and then stool sample at 12 weeks.
Also he should get his rabies shot at 4 months and if considering getting him fixed do that at 5-6 months.
With the pup being so young and taken from the mom there is a good chance the immunity is down and very likely to pick up something this is why it's best to wait until he gets all 3 booster shots.

Unless other dogs come into your yard you can let him into your yard for potty training, but he should not go for walks until after all of his puppy shots have been done.

He really is too young to be away from his mother right now. he should be at least 8 weeks. They learn a lot in those 2 weeks, so be prepared for some things to take a little longer for him to learn.

Congrats on the new pup.

It depends on what u mean by outside, if you just mean your backyard and other dogs don't visit your back yard- like say neighbor's or friends dog then your pup can go into the back yard. I just made sure no other dogs go in your back yard as dogs can carry certain diseases and at this age, your pup is definitely not fully protected.

He can only go outside outside, as in the streets etc, i.e. go for a walk say 2 wks after his final pup vaccination. Also 6 wks is a bit young to be separated from his momma??

if you have any other dogs in your yard or neighbouring yards, he can't go out till he's had all his shots, it's for his benefit, also don't take him out to walk on the street or mingle with other dogs.

If there are no other dogs near by he should be fine

not really. It's fine. Just start training him as soon as possible. Just make sure you are there as well.

Good Luck!!
