He didn't intend them for him anyway

If you could look at it from the other angle, Esau did not value his birth-right which was the most important thing to any first-born at that time hence, his deep desire to trade something so valuable for a bowl of soup was quite ridiculous. He made a very foolish long-term decision for 5 minutes of the satisfaction of his hunger.

If he did not value the birth-right of the first-born, it could be concluded that even if his father had given him the blessing, it would be of no use to him.

It was kept secret from Isaac because he loved Esau so much, Rebecca did not want him to know, but by the nature of Jacob, she knew he should keep the birthright as he had to be the chosen heir. Gen.27:35 - 38; There is no
mention that Isaac knew Jacob had the birthright as firstborn until Esau told
Isaac, "behold I have made him thy lord." said Isaac to Esau. Why would Jacob come in secret for the blessing if Isaac knew Esau had sold his birthright? Isaac then did as good by Esau as he possibly could, and said to him the things that he should, it was what Esau caused, but he was angry.

Isaac was doing God's will - thats why. Esau sold his inheritance for one lousy bowl of soup, remember? And for this reason, God hated Esau.

Mal 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

Esau and Ishmael were the fathers of today's Muslims.

Esau had no respect for the seriousness of his birth-right. Isaac knew this, and it was also a disobiedent act if you will, to God because that was Gods arrangement.

It is not possible to give a blessing and take it back......hence the benediction of true servants and pastors are very important!

Because the blessing could not be given twice. It was not something that could be revoked nor changed.
