when met with the response "No Thanks, I am not interested" when they attempt to preach?

Are they unable to accept that not everyone will believe their book simply because they believe it or is it something else?

In the past week allone the responses have been

"You mean you don't want to hear about the bible?" My response "That is correct, I am not interested" To which the womans response was "I am shocked....." she continued to speak I didn't catch the rest as I had started walking away at that point not wanting to get into a debate about why I was not interested...

And

"Not Interested in the word of god?" My response "That's correct not interested." This one was met with a simply mouth agape eyes bugging out shock as I said "Good-bye" and closed my front door gently (I didn't slam it, actually I never slam it as I don't want to break the 1890's original leaded glass panels) indicating the conversation was over... I watched, the person stayed on the porch 2 minutes 23 seconds with mouth apape and the shocked expression... Before leaving shaking their head..

In the past I have had similar shocked responses to my simply "No thanks, I am not interested."

It's parts of their delusion. I think it's some kind of insecurity issue, the proselytizers aren't so sure of their own faith that they have convert people to believe the same thing they do. The proselytizers think that somehow the more the converts the more their faith is reinforced.

I get the same shocked response when i tell people here in the Philippines that I am an atheist. They just can't believe it.
I told a group of mixed Romanians and Filipinas, catholics all, that, in UK, the churches were empty, being used as exhibition cehtres, coffee shops, community centres and the bulk of people were atheists. religion had just about died out there and that no-one I knew believed in any god at all. They thought that the UK must be like hell. How simple some people are.

Not everyone is Spiritually minded. Get this there are some people that bascially live just to eat, sleep, make money , get nookie and acquire materialism. This is true ...honest I am not making this up. But beyond that basic mundane reality, there exist much more.
The Ten Commandments were put into Stone, because Mankinds heart had also turned to stone. So it is with the rest of written word. Those who are right with the Creator have these things in their innermost being, center, core or what some call the heart of emotions and such. Divine Love is non-denominational.

I haven't actually seen "shock" personally. But I have seen disappointment.

It's like being an alcoholic and trying to explain to a NON alcoholic what it's like. It's simply an impossible task. But at the same time, the alcoholic desires to pass on their experience so others won't become alcoholic.

If you believe in anything that is important to you, you want to pass it on to others. It's always disappointing when somebody doesn't take interest in it like you do.

I'm a Jew. The christian across the street keeps trying to convert me using his book. I've found so many falsehoods in that book that I don't pay any attention to it.

The Torah given to us by G-d says very clearly that it cannot be added to or diminished and anyone who tries is a false prophet.

christians like to tell Jews they are going to hell. A concept that isn't even in the Torah. It's another aspect of killing Jews which started when they killed jesus. (Judas wasn't Jewish. He was a Moabite. So the only thing he could have been was christian.) Now they try to blame it on us even though the story of the passion is full of falsehoods.

If it wasn't so sad, I'd find the lack of knowledge christians have of the Torah humorous. If they don't understand basic concepts in they Torah, how can they be right?

Your generalizing all christians. Not really a smart thing to do. Personally for me, when someone doesnt want to hear the gospel, I simply move on. No questions asked. And I do it in a respectable way. Hope you learn from this

Look, they want to spread the happiness of Christ and they want everyone to be saved so that no one will go to hell because God doesn't want us to go to Hell.
But I must say that many really devoted Christians pressure other people to become Christians which I must say it isn't right...

I don't think "Christians" are shocked by people's response that they are not interested. Christianity has been rejected for thousands of years by many people.

Everyone will give an account for themselves and has a free choice what they want to do and where they will spend eternity by the decisions they make here on earth
